The Volunteer’s Role
The overall purpose of the placement is to provide technical assistance to our partner the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry in order to establish a new Secretariat (building) which will enable the Chamber’s management to better serve its members and facilitate wider economic development. The placement will focus on enhancing their resource mobilization capacity, to develop proposals and access funding; as well as formulate and manage key partnerships.
As a volunteer, you will:
Coordinate the identification of potential local, regional and international donor institutions to support the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce’s work;
Provide findings of potential donors, inclusive of an outline of specific donor requirements, to Executive Director;
Support the establishment of a donor registry, and advise Executive Director of prospective joint funding opportunities
Support the expansion of programs by coordinating development and submission of concept notes and proposals for funding, in keeping with donor requirements;
Develop guidelines and tools for the organization’s resource mobilization activities;
Facilitate training of key personnel in writing proposals, using resource mobilization guidelines and tools.
Review terms of collaboration with existing stakeholders, identify and make recommendations for areas of improvement;
Facilitate identification and development of strategic new Georgetown Chamber of Commerce stakeholders;
Develop guidelines and tools to support effective stakeholder management;
Train key personnel in stakeholder management.
Essential Academic Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Strategic Operations, Development Studies or other related social science discipline
Essential Professional Background:
3 years’ experience; must possess knowledge of Project Management tools and systems.
Proven success in fundraising.
Experience developing concept notes and funding proposals.
Experience in networking
