UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments.

Purpose of the Assignment

The overall objective of setting up this Long Term Arrangement is to facilitate and expedite the process by which UNICEF in Guyana will hire the services of photographers for photographing events, activities and workshops across the country.

Assignment Tasks

  • Photograph UNICEF programmes, keeping in mind culture, gender and other diverse sensitivities as per UNICEF guidelines. The photographs should be usable for diverse audiences and have universal appeal.
  • Demonstrate a client-oriented approach, tact and ability to work with people of different cultural backgrounds;
  • Ensure effective and efficient provision of services, full confidentiality in all aspects of the assignment, management of information flow and follow-up on deadlines and commitments made;
  • Ensure dignity of subjects, particularly in the context of children and vulnerable groups, including people living with or affected by HIV;
  • Write concise, well edited captions for all high quality images (captions should be embedded in the images and shared separately as a word document as well;
  • Ensure consent forms are signed by children and / or guardians as per UNICEF guidelines.
  • Work in close coordination with the assignment supervisor and / or communication and programme focal points.
  • Expected Deliverables

  • For each shoot day, provide edited photos in large JPEG format as per the minimum specified per shoot;
  • Images should be embedded with captions entered in IPTC code format;
  • Captions should also be submitted in a Word document;
  • Photos required urgently can be shared electronically with UNICEF;
  • Final HD with all images shot during the assignment to be provided to UNICEF;
  • All photos taken during a shoot should be delivered to UNICEF within one week of the shoot ending.
  • Consent forms signed by subjects, and guardians in the case of children as per UNICEF guidelines;
  • UNICEF retains copyright over all images shot during the course of an assignment. Copyright will appear as name of UNICEF Guyana/Year/Photographer. The consultant may be required to travel to remote, hard-to-reach areas to capture required images.

    Qualifications of Successful Candidate

  • Degree in communications, arts, media or any relevant field and/or certificates in photography is an asset;
  • Minimum three years' experience in photography of events and workshops;
  • Experience photographing large, high profile events;
  • Work with Media Agencies, International Organizations, NGOs an asset;
  • Fluency in English required
