SUMMARY:
The Youth and Citizens’ Participation Project (YCP) is a one-year program financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) under the framework of the Global Civil Society Strengthening Leader with Associates (GCSS-LWA) agreement. This is a full-time position based in Georgetown, Guyana for a period of eight months. This position will report to the Project Director and will support him/her in providing backstopping support to the field team, local and international partners, and Counterpart headquarters in matters of administrative, report writing, and financial management tasks.
The YCP project is designed to achieve the overall goal of strengthening and developing the capacity of civil society and youth to increase civic participation in Guyana. In effort to achieve this goal, Counterpart will partner with local CSOs to lead a social cohesion process that involves political parties, elected leaders, and constituents, with an emphasis on youth and women.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide backstopping support to the Project Director
• Assist in the administration of ongoing YCP activities
• Support the Project’s organizational development and social cohesion process activities
• Assist with conducting Counterpart’s Organizational Capacity Process (OCP) and developing Action Plans in support of local Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)
• Assist with coordinating the Project’s social cohesion training activities
• Assist with the launch of community-based social cohesion processes in selected communities
• Communicate consistently with headquarters-based staff, including sharing information and success stories for Communications purposes
• Coordinate project events, training sessions, workshops, field visits, and other activities, as required
• Collect information and provide inputs for the preparation of periodical Project reports
• Participate in documenting implementation successes, challenges, and lessons learned
• Assist with gathering performance data and supporting evidence in connection with the Project’s Monitoring & Evaluation duties
• Conduct other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or similar.
• Prior experience working with CSOs and similar organizations, preferred.
• Experience in civil society strengthening, including capacity development, organizational development, community mobilization, social cohesion, and training, preferred.
• Experience in Communications, including report writing, a plus.
• Prior experience in working with international organizations, a plus.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Experience with youth and gender integration a plus
• English fluency required
• Excellent writing and reporting skills
